Interior Architecture and Design

‘Interior’ work at 180 is developed as part of the same act of building—shaped through architecture, land, fabrication, construction, and the trades that carry material decisions to form. Not an applied condition, but part of the same spatial and material thinking that shapes the work as a whole.

Within the studio’s design-build practice, this brings the work into closer contact with detailing, trade coordination, fabrication, installation, field conditions, and self-performed efforts. Decisions around built elements, lighting, finishes, furnishings, and atmosphere are shaped with a clearer understanding of how they are made, assembled, and lived.

Embedded in a larger architectural project or developed through a more focused intervention, the work is approached with the same attention to craft, execution, and material clarity. Supported by the broader knowledge of the practice, it moves between larger environments and more concentrated moments of transformation.

Services

Interior work at 180 is approached as part of a larger process of conceiving and making—carried through architecture, fabrication, and construction with attention to material, light, interior conditions, and lived experience. This work may be embedded within a broader project or developed through smaller, focused interventions, each approached with the same care for craft, continuity, and execution. From spatial and material direction to custom built elements, lighting, furnishings, art, and curation, the work extends across the tactile environment.

  • Interior architecture and design carried through overall project development and execution

  • Spatial, material, and systems thinking within larger renovations or focused interventions

  • Lighting direction and design, including experiential effect and technical coordination

  • Custom elements, built-ins, furnishings, and integrated components

  • Furniture, art, and curatorial direction through procurement and installation

  • Existing pieces assessed, organized, and thoughtfully reincorporated

  • Exhibit and temporary environments, including curation and fabrication

  • Interior-focused design-build thinking carried more fully into fabrication and construction

  • Collaboration with clients and design partners through the tactile and lived dimensions of space

Meet Kelly Hatch, Creative Director of Interior Architecture

Kelly is Creative Director of Interior Architecture at 180 Degrees. Within the studio’s design-build practice, her work extends the close exchange between design, material, fabrication, and construction into the tactile and lived dimensions of space. As the studio continues to expand its capacity at this scale, Kelly brings greater depth and range to the conception and making of interior environments.

Her work is grounded in the cultivation of intimate, atmospheric moments within the built and natural environment, where light, material, and time shape how space is felt and lived. Her approach attends to the interior not as a surface condition, but as a spatial and material one.

Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and NCIDQ certification. Over more than 15 years of practice, she has worked across international, national, and regional projects including civic, public, hospitality, theatre, residential, multifamily housing, and higher education. While her experience spans typologies and scales, her curiosity and attention extend beyond the boundaries of market or category.

Her work is also informed by a sustained investment in learning, mentorship, and inquiry. Across her practice, she moves within the nuanced and pliable space between inner and outer worlds, where material, atmosphere, and human experience remain deeply intertwined conditions of design.
