The full color 226-page monograph features over 300 photographs of the firm’s body of work and describes their signature design-build process and philosophies in vivid, accessible detail. Making Architecture was written and designed by the team completely in-house to complement the firm’s first retrospective exhibition at Le Musée de Kaplan in Principal Architect James Trahan AIA’s hometown of Kaplan, Louisiana.
Making Architecture was printed using a Xerox 1000i color printer on 100# White Finch Opaque Smooth paper with 10 pt C1S/white stock featuring matte softtouch lamination. The typeface is Monotype’s Bauhaus-inspired Tw Cent MT (pronounced 20th Century) set at 10pt with 14pt leading. It’s a kinder, more humanist cousin of Futura without the stressful x-height.
The 9X9” monograph is organized on a six-column four-row grid system. There are over 300 full-color photographs. Articles were written by Alison King, and were based on extensive primary source interviews. Miraculously, this book was written over the course of 19 weeks, and produced in 15. We do not recommend it, but also do not regret it. All effort has been made to identify copyright owners of photographic imagery. Errors and omissions will be graciously incorporated into future editions.
